Hen Party in Reading

Welcome to Reading

Reading is one of the most cosmopolitan towns (it's a pretty big town, it's not a city, something people in Reading are a little disappointed about) in the UK so there's a great mix here, throw in 2 universities and you're guaranteed to have a fantastic henparty here. Situated where the Rivers Thames and Kennet meet, only 41 miles from London, Reading has something for everyone. There are plenty places to shop, to eat, to drink and to party. And then there's the Festival ....

Why Reading

There's so much going on in Reading that you're going to need more than a weekend. Reading is very well placed to get to from all over the south of England. As we said there are 2 universities here in Reading so the pub and club scene is really something else. Visit the Cemetery Junction area of town, named, not surprisingly after a cemetery. The cemetery itself holds some listed monuments and is quite a nice place to walk. The area itself is located between the Thames Valley Universities 2 campuses and as a result there are quite a lot of students living in the area. There are therefore quite a few takeaways and pubs in the area.

This is a beautiful part of England with many walks along the Thames, wander into the picturesque Chilterns or visit some of the quaint villages nearby such as Henley where you will find the Rowing Museum.

Back in Reading itself, have a wander into Forbury Gardens, an oasis in the middle of town. You might get lucky and catch some bands playing there, particularly during the summer.

If you fancied catching a play while on your henparty (well maybe you would !!) - there's a great selection of places to visit - The Concert Hall, 21 South Street, Progress Theatre, The Hexagon Theatre.

There are plenty of festivals to catch in Reading - The Comedy Festival, the Festival of Crime Writing (which sounds really interesting) and the Real Ale & Jazz Festival. Of course we've left the biggest festival til last, simply Reading Festival which has been running now since 1971, regularly attracting in excess of 80,000 fans - this year Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs amongst others played.
