NEWCASTLE GATESHEAD AS A DESTINATION FOR HEN PARTIES:
The cosmopolitan City of NewcastleGateshead was formed when both areas joined to become a single visitor destination linked by the river Tyne, the areas famous bridges and inspired by the Quayside, Newcastle and Gateshead iconic destination.
Whatever your Hen party requires, NewcastleGateshead has it all- from museums to Cathedrals, bars and restaurants to art galleries, shopping centres to theatres and much more. Just wander around the streets and the quaysides and the famous bridges and architecture will leave your party spellbound.
The area is rich in culture, architecture and history and also has a great reputation for shopping and nightlife.
It’s a veritable shopper’s paradise as it offers a pleasing choice of shopping environments with giant covered malls such as Eldon Square where you can find everything you need under one roof.
There are also plenty of designer boutiques stocking cutting edge labels, colourful independent galleries and craft shops full of original artwork and hand made objects.
For Hen Parties who desire a bit of history and culture a visit to Newcastle’s Laing Art gallery is a must. It houses an impressive 18th and 19th century permanent collection of dynamic landscapes by john martin and sculpture by Henry Moore.
Visit the large scale interactive model of Hadrian’s Wall, spectacular objects from the Ancient Greeks and Mummies from ancient Egypt, a planetarium and life size T-Rex at Newcastle’s great North museum.
The Baltic centre for contemporary art is housed in a landmark building on the river Tyne in Gateshead and is the biggest gallery of its kind in the world.
Joining the two areas together are seven bridges, the most famous being the Tyne Bridge and the most recent being the Gateshead Millennium bridge serving cyclists and pedestrians which is spectacular in design and innovation and links Newcastle to Gateshead quays which is being transformed into one of the biggest cultural and leisure quarters in the UK, set to rival anything anywhere in Europe.
There’s a wealth of options for the sporty Hens ranging from surfing to Horse riding,
Ski slopes to High Rope facilities and many more.
For the thrill of the night life it is recommended that you leave your coat in the hotel as no one wears one going out on the town. There are great traditional venues and pubs as you get set to round off your day and the club scene is described as electric.
A good tip is to fortify the body with a good old fashioned fish and chip supper before hitting the dance floor.
There are some great hotels in the area and plenty of options for those on tighter budgets.
Look out for the Gateshead Angel of the North. Its Britain’s largest Sculpture weighing in at 200 tons. Its 20 metres high and has a wing span of 54 metres and can withstand wind speeds of more than 100mph.
